As landscapers we have 35 years experience, and have done work all over South-Africa. This ranges from instant gardens (mature cacti giants), to smaller gardens where the plants can grow with the people. Using different colours, heights, shapes and sizes require lots of knowledge about their needs and eventual dimensions. They demand the right soil, little water and lots of light. As landscaping material they make excellent statement features. As flowering plants they produce an abundance of extremely large and beautiful coloured flowers in Spring and Summer. Winter flowering plants are minimal in the cacti and succulent categories.
Contrary to popular belief zerophytes are adaptable to a certain extent. As long as they dry out between watering's, they are fine. One project was done in Howick (near Durban) where the rainfall is very high. We adapted the soil and made trenches underneath with gutter pipes and gravel. This proved to be successful on the long run as well. Other difficult landscapes were done in Knysna, Gauteng, Port-Elizabeth, Bloemfontein and Colesberg. We have done work in all the climate-extremes possible.
As a result, we have become experts in our field and can transport plants that reach 4 meters relatively damage free, occasionally losing a spine or two. These plants quickly take to their new environment and carry on as if they have always been there.
Landscaping is done with excitement and love for the plants. This results in beauty!
